Let's Get Acquainted

Hi there! I'm Alexis, owner and founder of The Dope Doula and I'm so happy for this opportunity to connect with you! 

At the core of all the work I do is heartfelt compassion and connection with each client I'm blessed to work with. For the last 5 years, I have served as an ally and guide to developing families in the DMV by offering person centered, holistic support through the entire reproductive spectrum.

My goal is to create an environment of love, learning and wellness around every individual and family I serve that will radiate to the entire community.

I come to this work by my own path of growth and healing. On the journey of creating my own family I've overcome challenging experiences such as teen pregnancy, difficulty conceiving and pregnancy loss. I've also experienced the joy of healing past trauma, empowered childbirth, breastfeeding and paying it forward as I go. While I would never assume to know what it feels like to walk in your shoes, I offer empathy and hold space for you wherever you are in your own experience.

Since discovering my calling to birth work, I've been blessed with the opportunity to  train with several of the top maternal and child health education programs in the nation including Mamatoto Village, Ancient Song Doula Services and The Matrona. 

I hold a BS in Behavior Rehabilitation from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and have worked on both the programmatic and operations sides of the non-profit and education industries earlier in my career.

When I'm not working, I enjoy handcrafting herbal remedies and wellness products, practicing yoga, cooking and spending time with my husband and children.
